Paysecure is on a mission to reshape how businesses access and optimise payments. Our orchestration platform connects merchants across iGaming, digital platforms, travel and ecommerce to a network of more than 500 payment service providers and acquirers, and over 200 alternative payment methods, all through a single integration. The strength of that network comes from the partners in it, which is why we spend as much time building those relationships as we do building the technology.
In this Partner Spotlight we sat down with Yaspa, the open banking payments and financial intelligence provider founded by former Worldpay CTO James Neville. Yaspa brings instant account-to-account pay-ins, automated payouts and real-time financial insight to merchants on the Paysecure platform. That combination matters in regulated markets, where operators are under pressure to keep the checkout fast while meeting affordability and source of funds requirements. We talked to the Yaspa team about how the technology works, what open banking growth means for merchants, and where payments and intelligence meet next.Ā
Please provide an overview of your organisation and what you do.
Yaspa is an award-winning fintech that delivers personal intelligence through instant payments: simplifying and accelerating how businesses accept and send payments across the UK, Europe, and North America. Built on open banking rails, Yaspa provides instant account-to-account (A2A) payments, automated payouts, bank account verification, and Intelligent Payments, a solution that blends instant transactions with real-time financial insights to understand customer financial health, manage risk and combat fraud.
How do you work in partnership with Paysecure?
Yaspa partners with Paysecure by combining our open banking payment rails and financial intelligence with Paysecureās AI-driven payment orchestration platform. Through a single integration with Paysecure, merchants can access Yaspaās instant bank-to-bank pay-ins and payouts alongside Paysecureās extensive global network of over 500 payment service providers, acquirers, and alternative payment methods. Together, we deliver true payments intelligence by processing real-time bank transactions while simultaneously giving merchants real-time data on customer financial behaviour and risk profiles.
Explain how your product / solution works.
Yaspa leverages secure open banking APIs, to facilitate direct bank-to-bank payments without the need for card networks. At checkout, customers select Pay with Yaspa and are typically redirected to their existing mobile banking app to authenticate the payment via biometrics, such as Face ID or fingerprint, with funds settling instantly. Funds move in the UK through the Faster Payments network, SEPA Instant in the EU, and ACH Guaranteed in the US.
Furthermore, merchants can disburse funds or process refunds in real time directly to a customerās verified bank account, effectively eliminating multi-day card refund delays. The platform enables account ownership verification in seconds to streamline customer onboarding and facilitate compliant, closed-loop payments. Additionally, with customer consent, Yaspa reads bank account data at the point of interaction to provide actionable, real-time insights regarding affordability, financial health, and risk profiles, which empowers merchants to adjust risk management and limit rules dynamically.
What makes your organisation different to others in your area of speciality? What is your market USP?
Yaspa distinguishes itself in the market through its Intelligent Payments solution, which connects identity with money. While many open banking providers focus solely on moving funds, Yaspa can enrich every transaction with real-time financial intelligence and identity verification, transforming payments into a robust tool for assessing risk, preventing fraud, and establishing trust. Furthermore, the platform achieves industry-leading conversion rates of between 85% and 95% by streamlining authentication directly within native mobile banking applications. This efficiency is supported by a complete, modular platform that manages the entire payment lifecycle, including instant pay-ins and payouts, account verification, and real-time risk insights, providing businesses with the flexibility to utilise these features either as standalone building blocks or as a unified solution.
How was your organisation founded? What was the market’s need?
Yaspa was founded in 2017 by James Neville, the former CTO of Worldpay. Having spent years at the core of global payment processing, James saw that traditional card payment systems were fundamentally flawed for modern digital commerce, plagued by high interchange fees, slow settlement times, complex chargeback fraud, and friction at checkout. With the advent of open banking regulations (PSD2), Yaspa was created to build a faster, cardless payment network that directly links customer identity with financial movement, solving payments and verification simultaneously.
Share any standout moments or wins youāve had with Paysecure so far?
Our collaboration with Paysecure has resulted in several key achievements that demonstrate the strength of our combined offering. We have successfully integrated our Intelligent Payment architecture, which pairs Paysecureās smart routing and orchestration engine with our open banking rails and real-time financial insights. This has facilitated seamless merchant access across major UK and European corridors, allowing Paysecure merchants to activate account-to-account pay-ins and instant payouts through their existing integration. Furthermore, we have helped mutual clients achieve improved performance, effectively lowering transaction friction, reducing fraud rates, and optimising overall authorisation performance through our combined payments intelligence.
What current trends in digital payments are impacting your organisation?
Open banking payments are growing fast, up 53% year-on-year in the UK through 2025, and that momentum is the trend shaping everything we do. The industry’s challenge now is making sure recognition at checkout keeps pace with that growth, which is why we’re focused on consistent, clear language around Pay by Bank rather than leaving it fragmented across providers. Alongside that, businesses in regulated markets, such as iGaming, are under growing pressure to balance a fast, seamless payment experience with evolving affordability, source of funds and compliance requirements. That’s where treating payments as a source of insight, makes the real difference, pushing the whole industry towards smarter use of consented financial data instead of manual processes. Both trends play directly to what Yaspa and Paysecure solve for merchants together.
What are the key ingredients for a successful partnership?
Trust and mutual respect for what each side does best. We know payments intelligence and open banking inside out, so we focus on doing that well, and we look for partners who bring their own expertise rather than asking them to be something they’re not. That’s what lets us make Yaspa’s technology more widely and easily available to merchants, through platforms they already use day to day. But even as the technology gets smarter, the partnerships that actually work still come down to real trust between the people involved, not just good tech. Just as important is sharing a vision: we’re driven by pioneering payments and pushing what’s possible with the technology, and the partnerships that work best are with people who want to be at that same forefront, using payments to genuinely make a difference rather than just move money from A to B.
What are your key focuses for the next 3/6/12 months?
Geographical reach is a big focus for us. We’re obviously continuing to refine our payments solutions across the UK and Europe, but in parallel are expanding our payments coverage across the US, where the gaming market is growing at a real pace across multiple verticals. That means giving operators their tailored payment options as the market continues to mature.
What do you see as the next big thing in payments?
The next big thing isn’t a new payment rail, it’s what businesses do with the data already flowing through the one they’ve got. Treating payments as a source of insight, not just a mechanism for moving money, is where the real opportunity sits: using consented data to give businesses a live view of financial health and behaviour at the point of payment itself, rather than reconstructing it after the fact. That has genuine commercial upside, from reduced churn to more tailored, timely responses, but it also strengthens consumer protection, since risk and vulnerability can be spotted earlier rather than relying on manual checks once something’s already gone wrong. There’s a lot more still to unlock in what payments and insight together can do, for the business and the customer alike – itās an area thatās going to grow and grow.
What advice would you give to merchants / partners about growing / designing a clear payments strategy?
Start by thinking beyond the transaction itself. Merchants across regulated markets, and increasingly in markets that are yet to be regulated, are under growing pressure around consumer protection, whether that’s player protection in iGaming or consumer duty more broadly. For a partner, that means offering payment methods that surface the insight merchants need to meet that pressure, such as affordability, source of funds and broader financial health signals, without disrupting the customer’s experience. It’s also worth choosing a provider that understands the nuances of each market you, or your merchants, operate in or are expanding into, and that designs the payment experience accordingly.
Payments can bring more to a business than the transaction itself: the intelligence that can be gleaned is highly relevant to fraud, compliance and operational teams as well. At Yaspa, we believe that the strategy that keeps the holistic business and its base in mind is the one that can capture real efficiency, and, ultimately, materially improve customer satisfaction and retention.
Yaspaās view that payments should tell operators something, not just move money, sits closely alongside how we think about orchestration. The value is not only in reaching more payment methods. It is in what the data flowing through lets you do next, such as route more intelligently, spot risk earlier, and give players an experience that feels effortless. Adding Yaspaās open banking rails and financial intelligence to the Paysecure network gives merchants both, without a separate integration or a rebuild of the cashier.
